A few thoughts about equipment

I'm about 16 months now into my hobby. My first camera is the 550d rebel.
I've spent allot of time pixel peeping and reading about all kinds of cameras and equipment. The sky is the limit.
Its important to pay attention to the fact - that what is rapidly developing and causing new bodies and lenses to appear almost every few months - is everything BUT optics. Electronics, lens structure and build, and other areas are giving us these new products. However - the optics of a 20 yr old lens like the canon 50mm 1.8 - are still superior.
My conclusion is - that all this rush for bigger and better - will probably not give me better pictures. Skill and experience will do that. All the new modern equipment is pretty much on the same level - and you really really have to squint to see the small differences.
Again and again I see and confirm - its all about "seeing" and knowing how to shoot.

This lens gives great IQ - its light, cheap, and small.
You need to be patient with the Auto focus, and learn how to use is correctly.

There is a large window to the left of the picture - and I had someone hold a large piece of white cardboard as a "fill light" so the left cheek should not be shaded.
